Things to do around Tarifa:
Take a trip on one of the whale watching boats where there are commom sightings of Pilot Whales and Dolphins. These boats depart from the local harbour in Tarifa daily. In July and August it is also possible to see Orca's and sperm Whales. See the local marine life and wrecks underneath the water by scuba diving.
Surfing is common along the coast towards Cadiz. There are a few Horse riding centres which can offer rides along the beach or into the countryside. Mountain Biking, climbing or walking in the area and especially in The National Park of Los Alcornocales is also very popular. There is an 18 hole Golf course towards Cadiz (30 mins away). You can find six grass tennis courts near Algeciras.
Spend a cultural day out in Morocco - Explore the narrow streets of the old town, and local bazaars. The ferry departs daily from Tarifa harbour and the crossing only takes 35 minutes. Visit Gibraltar to see the barbary apes, caves, and do some duty free shopping. A short drive away are the White villages of Andalusia, Ronda and the spectacular El Tajo Gorge.
In Tarifa - Visit the Arabian Castle of Guzman the Bueno built in 960AD, Municipal Museum, 16th Century Church of San Mateo, Miramar Gardens and Jerez Gate or simply walk around the Castellated City Walls.
Cadiz is one of Europe's oldest cities and is only 1.5 hrs away from Tarifa Here you will find the Grazalema Natural Park, ancient palaces, cathedrals, castles, museums, and spectacular gardens. They also have a famous carnival (based around shrove Tuesday). The white houses located in the northern part of Cadiz have been declared an UNESCO world heritage site.
Sample sherry in the bodega’s of Jerez de la Fontera. Or venture further up the coast to Portugal (3.5 hours away). Seville one of the largest historical sites in Spain and the Capital of Andalusia and is only a 2.5 hr drive. Famous for Flamenco dancing, and is said to have inspired Mozart.

Tarifa is a crossroad of cultures, with a massive diversity of dining to suit all tastes. Dos Mares apartment is located close enough to walk to the local bars and restaurants but far enough away to get a good night sleep. You will find a good selection of traditional tapas bars and Spanish style restaurants to international cuisine including Italian, Mexican, Asian, Moroccan, Japanese, and some fine dining restaurants.
